Ricky and the American Girl

Ricky didn't know what to do next. Then he saw the cinema. 
(Ricky says) 'Erm... Alexis?' 
(Alexis says) 'Uh huh?' 
(R) 'Would you like to see a film?' 
(A) 'A movie? Oh, that's a nice idea, Ricky. But I've got to get back to Holly's. I'm expecting a call from - from a friend, you know? But thanks.'

 The above quotation is the scene where Ricky shows Alexis who is an American girl Ricky fancied around the town, and Ricky is declined his suggestion whether to go seeing a film by her. Ricky is really disappointed, and what does it happen for him?
