Fireball's Heart

Chief Wise Owl's people always tell the truth. But Chief Strong Buffalo  doesn't believe him. He thinks of a plan to get Dark Eyes, the Indian who looks after all of the tribe's horses, to tell a lie. Can Dark Eyes win the test or is Chief Strong Buffalo right? (Quotation from the back of the book)

One day, Dark Eyes meets a girl, Blue Feather. They become good friends. But a few days later, Blue Eyes is crying because of her illness. She tells Dark Eyes that only Dark Eyes can help her with bringing Fireball's heart to her. Dark Eyes confuses because Fireball is Chief Wise Owl's favorite horse, and Dark Eyes does not want to kill the horse. However, Dark Eyes wants to help Blue Feather rather than not killing the horse. Chief Strong Buffalo and Chief Wise Owl who are betting whether Dark Eyes tells the truth all the time or not expect what Dark Eyes says to Chief Wise Owl.
I think that Dark Eyes faces a very difficult choice, but his choice is right and his decision to tell the truth to Chief Wise Owl is also right.

Kibu's brothers laughed at him. "No," they said, "you are too amall. Father lion will gobble you up - snip snap!" Kibu did not like being laughed at. Kibu said, "I will get a lion. You will see." (pp.4-5)

A little boy, Kibu, is a proud member of the Masai tribe in East Africa. (p.2) Kibu wants to become a mighty lion hunter like his eldery brothers. However, Kibu's brothers regard Kibu as an little boy who is too small to hunt a lion. Thus Kibu goes to hunt a father lion with some help in order to be recognized to become an lion hunter.

Hill of Fire

Every day is the same for Pablo's father. Then one afternoon the ground growls, hisses smoke, and swallows up his plow. A volcano is erupting in the middle of his cornfield! (Quation from the back cover of the book)

A farmer, Pablo's father, alway says that "Nothing ever happen," though he has everything he needs. Probablly he wants anything special against his dairy life. Thus he says "One hill of fire is enough for me." in the end of the story.
It is an unrealistic story, so it makes me fun, especially the line which farmer's says in the end is too foolish and fun because everyone without him feels sad due to becoming volcano in few minute. I think he could have enjoyed his life with what he had already had.
